A leader in Britain's industrial revolution, Birmingham is often thought to be the UK's "second city".
Along with the rest of England, Birmingham has a temperate climate, boasting slightly milder winters than the country average. It does, however, still have a higher than average snowfall.
The city has plenty of areas of interest, including a renowned art gallery (the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery), the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, the massive Sutton Park, the Bullring Shopping Centre and the Sea Life Centre.
